Update

So here is an update of the CD cover that I have been working on. The first one is in a previous post. This is a Musical Fireside that I and my friend Colleen Harrison did years ago.

We still have requests for it and have been asked by several people if we would get it into a CD, since the old magnetic tape is old school now, and so... Here is the new CD Cover.

I must say that I am pretty tickled with how it turned out. I am also learning much more about Photo Shop and I have really liked what I have been learning.

Just so you know, I created all of the stars. No photo from the Hubble or anything like that. This is only the inner space between my two ears. (Very Vast!)

My Newest Painting

I went to a Frank Covino workshop last week and got my painting finished to this point. This is the finished verdaccio (spelling?), which means it is painted in green gray colors with all of the values. I first drew it on the board in charcoal, then I painted the verdaccio and then I will add color. So.. it is painted at least three times before it is done. It is a masters technique that the old masters did. This is a copy of a Bougereau called "The mischievous one".

New CD cover for my CD

I thought you might like to see the new CD cover that I have been working on. My friend Colleen and I did a tape many years ago. We have had so many people love it and play the tape until they had worn their tapes out and asked for new ones, so.... we decided to make a CD of it because magnetic tapes are "old school" thus the new cover.

It has been fun creating it.

David and I are taking dance lessons again. We forgot alot of the steps that we had learned in our Social Dance class that we had taken a few years ago, and so we are getting a refresher course. We want to go dancing once a week to keep us fit and healthy. Besides, it is just plain fun and romantic to dance with such a cute guy in my arms! One that is willing to actually dance! So for all of you men out there who read this blog, if your wife likes to dance and you don't, give it a go, you just might find out that the two of you have such a great time and that she is so appreciative that you might even go again! Or... she might sit down and watch that football game with you just because you like it!

Our Gorgeous Sunsets

This is what you are missing. Almost daily we get gorgeous sunsets like this one. Tonight, Sunday, David and I went for a walk at dusk and this was the kind of sunset we saw. Absolutely fabulous.

LESSONS!!

So here is the correct kind of coloring on what the previous posts looked like! This is an earlier version of what my final project looks like, but it at least has the correct color.

We finally figured out what was going on. When I finished my project I took it from an RGB mode to a CMYK mode. I just learned a valuable lesson, one that I knew but didn't know. (I hate those kinds). RGB is red, green, blue mode. It is the kind of color management mode that the web takes. CMYK is for print media. So there you have a lesson in color! I hope you appreciate me getting egg all over my face to teach you this valuable lesson. LOL!

So here is another version of the weird things that this blog site does to pictures that have been created in Photo Shop! Either that or it has heart burn and doesn't work on Sunday!

I am posting my latest homework assignment. We had to create a magazine cover and I took 3 different parts of 3 different pictures and warped and transformed and beveled and embossed my way to this.

I think I blew my picture insert ability. I tried to get my picture up that I had done and it came up in a negative form. (Weird!) Then I tried to delete it and add another one and this blog won't let me.

So here is the negative of what my picture should look like! It really is pretty (ha ha) but apparently it couldn't handle this. The background is a gorgeous blue and purple and black. Just think of the complementary colors of this and you will get an idea of what it really looked like! The egg is gold, the arms look like they are glowing from the egg and etc...

I think I will go and get me some 8 x 10's of these. I look forward to doing more of these when the time permits.

Right now I am doing some big projects for my classes and have tests coming up. YUK I hate tests. I guess it doesn't matter what the age, tests just stink! But... I do learn alot from them because I study so hard to get some sort of a decent grade.

I am hoping that I can share things that I am learning and doing with my family members on this blog site.

I miss my family and being around them. It is hard to be down here when they are way up there.

David and I got to talk to Alex today and he told me that his ham had clouds. Mindy said that it was scalloped ham. I love how expressive and adorable little ones can be.

Gorgeous

I have been taking a digital photography class and also another Photoshop class. I so wanted to master Photo shop and it will take quite alot to do it, but... I keep trying.

So my daughter Angie got married last spring. For my birthday I wanted copies of her wedding pictures that were taken. I really liked her pictures but I wondered if I could use some of the skills that I was learning here at the University to spruce some of the color and quality up on them. Here is one that I really liked. I loved the light on her hair and the reeds in the back ground. Of course I loved the subject best. (My Angie!) But the picture was too dark and I wanted more warmth in the coloring. So I took this in to my Photoshop editor and worked on her picture. What do you think? I was tickled! Now that looks like my Angie! What a Babe!

Technology is scary for those over 40 something!

So here we are trying to create a blog for ourselves and family members who would be interested in reading it.

You would think after several years of taking computer classes in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Microsoft Word, Excel, 3D Animation, Adobe Premiere, C++, Network systems, Visual Basic, GIS, AutoCad, several Access courses, Power Point, and many many more between the two of us, we wouldn't still consider ourselves computer illiterates, but we do. Especially Me (Susie). It is still so intimidating to try something new on the computer like a BLOG! We come from the age of the dinosaurs and this is the Jetson age. What I wouldn't give for a good old fashioned pencil!
